What shapes drainage in Embrun

Floodplains and unstable slopes. The Township’s Official Plan identifies floodplains and unstable slopes as hazard areas inside its villages, and one of its goals is conserving the Castor River floodplain and its main tributaries. Marine silt and clay. Regional geology maps show Champlain Sea silt and clay under the village. Clay holds water, so the slope away from the foundation is what keeps a basement dry.

Municipal services. Most of Embrun is on municipal water and wastewater, though some parts of the village are partly serviced or not serviced. Private septic systems in the Township need SNC septic permits.Source: Township of Russell Official Plan (2018)

Questions

Questions about work in Embrun.

Do you charge extra to come to Embrun?

No. Embrun is inside 50 km of our Rockland yard, so the skid steer comes with no delivery charge, and bins are priced the same as in Rockland.

Does tearing down a garage in Embrun need a permit?

Most buildings and structures need a Township demolition permit; the residential fee is $245. The Township’s page doesn’t say whether a small shed needs one, so check with its building department before we start.

Is my yard near the Castor River floodplain?

The Township’s Official Plan maps its floodplains and unstable slopes, and South Nation Conservation maps its regulated areas. Look up your address on those maps, or ask us when you call.
